'Gerard Leeu was a printer of incunabula. Leeu was born in Gouda between 1445 and 1450. He printed his first book, a lithurgical one, in May 1477 in his shop in Gouda, where in the period till 1484 he produced a total of about seventy books. In 1484 he moved to Antwerp, where in 1492 he died from a stab wound during a quarrel with one of his typesetters. Besides printing works in Latin and Dutch, he reprinted some editions of William Caxton in English for the English market.'
